Heritage can represent a valuable resource for living together peacefully and building prosperous, sustainable futures. However, it can also find itself in the midst of serious conflicts. As such, the role of heritage in the pursuit of peace requires careful consideration.

ICCROM today welcomed the Executive Director of the ALIPH Foundation, Valéry Freeland, to our headquarters in Rome, accompanied by Andrea Balbo, ALIPH Project Manager. They met with Director-General Webber Ndoro, Valerie Magar, Unit Manager, Programmes, and Yasmin Hashem, FAR Programme Assistant.

ICCROM is very pleased to announce the launch of the Mora Samples Collection catalogue as an open access research resource. The Mora samples collection is an extraordinary scientific scholarly resource comprising over 1 200 material samples that bears witness to the complexity and diversity of wall painting as a medium for cultural expression across different civilizations and time periods.

ICCROM, IUCN, ICOMOS and the UNESCO World Heritage Centre are collaborating together to produce the upcoming Guidance for World Heritage Impact Assessment. We are currently working on finalizing the document and improving the diagrams and tools based on the last round of feedback received. We are planning to release the guidance in the third quarter of 2021. Please stay tuned for further updates!

Earlier this year, ICCROM participated in a series of international webinars organized by the Italian Ministry of Culture and introduced by the culture minister Dario Franceschini, under Italy’s Presidency of the G20. The webinars were a precursor to the upcoming G20 Culture Ministerial meetings in Rome on 20 and 30 July, ahead of the G20 Leaders’ Summit in October.
