The ICCROM Library uses the OpenAthens service to manage access to subscription-based electronic content with restricted access rights. The OpenAthens internal institutional guidelines regulate access management at our organization. Access rights are given to students of our courses, interns and other categories of professional collaborators to ICCROM. For such users, the Library creates a temporary account, lasting for the whole duration of the user’s affiliation with the institution. The service enables the user to remote access all electronic journals and e-books of the ICCROM Library.
The ICCROM Library is pleased to offer researchers in conservation and restoration of cultural heritage in our Member States an exciting opportunity to access our electronic resources. These resources can be invaluable for researchers looking to advance their knowledge and expertise in this field. Apply here
There are different possibilities to access electronic resources with OpenAthens:
1. Access via Library catalogue
A search can be started on the Library’s catalogue homepage. All subscriptions based e-resources contain a link to the full-text online resource. For e-books the user will be redirected either to the EBSCO HOST platform or to the publisher’s platform, while for journal articles in most cases he will be redirected to the article itself.
2. Access via Open Athens button on the Library homepage
Clicking on the OpenAthens Icon on the catalogue homepage will lead to the login page of MyAthens.
Once signed in, the user can access resources directly from the OpenAthens homepage where a full list of subscribed peridicals is maintained up-to-date by Library staff.
3. Generic OpenAthens login: find Your Organization here
When accessing an OpenAthens resource for the first time, you may be faced with a generic OpenAthens login screen.
If so, you must search using the 'Find your organization' box on the right in order to navigate to the correct login page. Select from the drop-down menu International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration […], then log in with your username and password.
Logging in successfully here will take you to the desired e-resource. Once logged in, you will remain authenticated throughout your browser session and should not be challenged to login again if you visit other ICCROM OpenAthens resources.
