The President of the Council of ICCROM, Marie Lavandier, has been named Director of Louvre-Lens – the northern branch of France’s renowned cultural institution. Ms Lavandier, an art historian and conservation specialist, currently heads the Museum of Nice in southern France.
“I wholeheartedly congratulate Mrs Lavandier on her appointment to this new prestigious role. It is a sign of recognition for her professional excellence as well as her devotion to conservation issues, which she has also demonstrated at ICCROM,” said Stefano de Caro, ICCROM’s Director-General.
Mrs Lavandier’s distinguished career includes a number of senior positions in France’s cultural sector. She has published extensively on cultural and conservation issues. Mrs Lavandier replaces Xavier Dectot at the helm of the Louvre-Lens, becoming the second Director of the Museum since its establishment in 2012 .
