Sustainability aspiration
The National Library and Information System Authority of Trinidad and Tobago aims to promote cultural participation and social inclusion to secure the longevity of Heritage Library Division collections for future generations while facilitating users' access to and exploitation of the collections.
In this OCM field project, the National Library and Information System Authority focused on creating clear and comprehensive policy documents to guide the preservation of their collections while supporting the maximum fruition of these collections, contemplating both internal and external users, as well as collaborations with partners.
The project helped to educate participants on sustainable development and raise their awareness of the United Nations' Sustainable Goals. It provided a learning opportunity about policy preparation and reinforced a sense of the importance of collections, which became more valued, more accessible, and better cared for.
This field project is not only a local initiative but also aligns with the global UN Agenda 2030 goals. It contributes to quality education, reduced inequalities, sustainable cities and communities (protecting the world's cultural and natural heritage), climate action, peace, justice and strong institutions, and partnerships of the goals.
