The virtual Round Table on "Investing in young people for a Euro-African partnership, one year after the Conference of the Rectors of African Universities" is an opportunity to exchange views and learn from last year's Conference and the current situation due to the global COVID emergency. It will also be an opportunity for regional and international organizations involved in higher education initiatives to share their views with a qualified audience.
As a part of the joint strategic priority area for ICCROM and the other organizing partners, the Round Table intends to recognize the centrality of youth in the education policies, particularly in a continent such as Africa where it is foreseen that half of the youth of the whole planet will be concentrated in the next fifty years. The key objectives of cooperation in this area are to increase access to knowledge, education, skills and employment, thereby unlocking the potential offered by research, technology, innovation and the digital economy.
“Creating democratic spaces on the African continent is paramount, and universities are key to ensuring this is possible”, said Webber Ndoro, ICCROM Director-General. Indeed, participants will discuss the need for education systems to invest in programs of innovation to protect and promote cultural heritage as a relevant source of change and well-being.
The virtual Round Table is a partnership between ICCROM, the University of Teramo and the Diocese of Teramo-Atri, and organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI). It is part of the “III Gran Sasso International Forum”, which will focus on the second theme of the triptych (prevent, invest, build) of the cultural agenda for the territory. “Investing in Young people” comes after the successful edition of 2019 on “Prevention, the way to development”.
People interested in the session can register for free until 1 October 2020 at: http://193.204.1.139/index.php/registrazione/
The event will begin at 14:00 CET.
