What is Heritage?
All: What is cultural heritage?
Poet 1: Cultural heritage is the legacy of physical artifacts and intangible attributes of a group or society that are inherited from past generation, maintained in the present, and preserved for the benefits of future generations.
All: What is heritage?
Poet 2: Heritage is the full range of our inherited traditions, monuments, objects and culture. Most important, it is the range of contemporary activities, meanings and behaviors that we draw from them. Heritage includes but is much more than preserving, excavating, displaying or restoring a collection of old things.
All: Why heritage?
Poet 3: As a community we share the responsibility to identify and respect what is important and pass on these to the future generation so they will understand what comes before them. Heritage places contribute to quality life and cultural identity of our community.
Poet 4: Cultural heritage plays a very important role in our life. It is what keeps us attached to our religion, traditions and beliefs.
All: What?
Poet 5: Cultural heritage can provide an alternate sense of unity and belonging to a group, which allows us to better understand previous generations and history from where we come from.
All: It is important to preserve our cultural heritage because it keeps our integrity as people. The importance of intangible cultural heritage is not the cultural manifestation itself but rather the wealth of knowledge and skills that is transmitted through it from one generation to the next.
