Why This Course? 

Training course on Structural Conservation of Built Heritage (phase II) 

Following the successful completion of the first phase of the Structural Conservation course, the second phase (remote training) seeks to deepen the expertise of specialists in structural conservation, their understanding of its theories, and advanced techniques. This initiative responds to the pressing needs of a region facing severe challenges due to natural disasters, conflicts, and wars, which have left a significant number of historic buildings in various states of damage—ranging from architectural deterioration and structural failure to complete destruction in many cases.

Objective

The course aims to enhance the technical skills of structural engineers in addressing complex conservation challenges while strengthening the capacity of heritage institutions in Arab Member States. 

What Will You Learn? 

  • Advanced structural assessment techniques 
  • Structural calculus and modeling  
  • Design and implementation of structural interventions 
  • Case studies and applications 

Course Structure:

  • Online Sessions: from 25 May to 4 June.  
  • Duration: 10 days, with each session lasting 2-4 hours, starting from 8:00 AM (CEST) | 10:00 AM (UAE Time) 
  • Language: The course will be conducted in Arabic. Knowledge of English Structural terminology is required.  

Who Should Apply?  

The course offers two categories of participation—Participants and Attendees—each with different levels of engagement: 

Participants: Structural Conservation professionals  

  • Structural and civil engineers associated with the field of built heritage conservation. 
  • Architects with certified experience in structural studies. 

Those accepted in this category will actively participate in discussions and exercises. 

Applications for this category are subject to an interview. If an applicant does not pass the interview, they will have the option to join as an attendee. 

Attendees: Architectural Conservation professionals 

  • Professionals in architectural conservation who seek to enhance their understanding of structural conservation. 

Attendees will have full access to the sessions and observe the discussions without active participation in exercises.
