Under the patronage of His Highness, ICCROM-Sharjah will hold a two-day event, from 1-2 June, to declare and celebrate the Award winners. The first day will be a final review of the shortlisted projects. The winners will be announced the following morning – at 9.00 on 2 June – at the House of Wisdom in Sharjah.

It is with a heavy heart that we commemorate the passing of United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahyan, who died on 13 May 2022. With the most profound sorrow, we received the untimely news of the passing away of a good collaborators with ICCROM: the Iraqi archaeologist, Dr Abdulameer al-Hamdani and Prof Amir Pašić. Both scholars were dedicated researchers, men of action, fearless of challenges, and wise teachers in our field.

On 21 March, the ICCROM Regional Office in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, received a delegation from the Republic of Korea. Led by H.E. Seokgu Lee, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the United Arab Emirates, they met with the Director of the ICCROM Regional Office, Zaki Aslan and staff to discuss future possible collaborations in the field of cultural heritage.

ICCROM-Sharjah and the National Commissions for UNESCO in the Arab Region are launching a regional competition on heritage and sustainable development for school students. 'Our heritage brings us together' aims to raise awareness about the importance of preserving cultural heritage in the Arab region.
