We are pleased to announce the launch of the ICCROM Register of Heritage Samples Archives!

One of the ICCROM Archives’ largest sample collections is the Mora Samples Archive, donated by famous conservators Laura and Paolo Mora for teaching and research purposes. Many of the samples are from world-renowned heritage places, such as the Tomb of Nefertari, where sampling is no longer allowed. ICCROM’s Valuing Cultural Capital: Accounting for the Hidden Value of Heritage initiative kicked off earlier this month with a workshop, public webinar and survey launch to our Member States.

We present two new surveys to gather perceptions in Ibero-America on the physical and symbolic change of public spaces, and the specific interventions that occurred in them. We seek to collect information on existing practices and policies regarding the conservation and management of sculptural heritage in public spaces and how social changes are challenging its perception, meaning and use.

The Mora samples collection is an extraordinary scientific scholarly resource comprising over 1 200 material samples that bears witness to the complexity and diversity of wall painting as a medium for cultural expression across different civilizations and time periods.
