The ABC Risk Management System for Cultural Heritage (or ABC System) is a tool to assist professionals and institutions interested in implementing the ABC method of risk management. On 17 and 18 October 2022, we reunited with PREVENT course alums to catch up on the successes and challenges of managing fire risk at heritage sites across the globe. The two-day international symposium - the first of its kind for the PREVENT initiative - was held in Trogir, Croatia, and online.
In October, the Ministry of Culture (MoC) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia concluded a training course on the Creative Cities Network (UCCN) – a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) programme and one in a series of training courses within the Experts Program, which is being implemented by MoC and ICCROM.
The 97th session of ICCROM Council took place on 26 and 27 October 2022. We were pleased to welcome several Council Members in person at ICCROM Headquarters for the first time in three years. The 97th session of Council was held in a hybrid format, so we were also able to include Council Members who could not be in Rome.
On 24 October 2022, Professor Huadong Guo, Director of the International Centre on Space Technologies for Natural and Cultural Heritage (HIST) under the auspices of UNESCO, met online with Dr Webber Ndoro, Director-General of the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage (ICCROM), to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
