Executive Summary
ICCROM coordinated a three day workshop in Seoul, Korea for heritage officers working at the national and local governments. Using the World Heritage site of Jongmyo Shrine as a case study, the workshop focused primarily on the role of heritage agencies in ensuring a sound impact assessment process.
It was used as an opportunity to explore how IA guidelines could be incorporated into the national policy context. It also highlighted the role of impact assessments in heritage management planning and equipped participants with current knowledge and skills of using impact assessment as a tool for evaluating impacts from various factors affecting heritage in general and World Heritage sites in particular.
