General description of the project
Launched in 2020, ICCROM’s Our Collections Matter (OCM) initiative aims to accelerate, increase, and amplify activities that support sustainable development through the use, development, and conservation of heritage collections in museums, libraries, archives, and other collections-based organizations worldwide. As part of its key forthcoming activities, ICCROM-OCM will join an international consortium to implement the Transforming Our World: Collections at the Hearth of life-long learning and EDucation project (TOWCHED), a 3-year project funded by the European Union (EU).
TOWCHED will showcase the transformative potential of inclusive, collections-based interventions to effectively engage citizens and communities in sustainable development, with a special focus on children and youth. The outcomes of multiple field studies conducted across Europe will be critically assessed and shared, providing a powerful, field-tested roadmap for making Europe, and our world, a better place. One of our key innovations is the application of the Human Rights-Based Approach as a project planning tool.
