On 21 October, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between ICCROM and the National Cultural Heritage Administration of China at the ICCROM Offices in Rome, Italy.
The agreement will consolidate cooperation between ICCROM and China, a Member State since 2000. ICCROM has enjoyed collaboration with China for a number of years, and through this agreement, it will strengthen this cooperation by formalizing the exchange of expertise and knowledge between experts in China and ICCROM’s global network.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Webber Ndoro, ICCROM’s Director-General and Mr. Hu Bing, Deputy Administrator of the NCHA. The Chinese delegation also consisted of Mr. Gu Aimin, Senior Inspector of NCHA; Ms. Xu Rong, Cultural Conselor, Chinese Embassy in Italy; Mr. Wen Dayan, Deputy Director, Department of Foreign Affairs, NCHA; and Mr. Zheng Shaoliang, Division Chief of General Administration, NCHA.
Mr. Bing congratulated ICCROM for its 60th anniversary and expressed his happiness in our shared collaborations over the last five years. Activities held in the framework of the previous MoU signed in 2013 involved 37 countries, 51 course participants from around the world as well as 66 from China, many of whom have now become experts.
ICCROM greatly values China’s contribution to the Organization and its support for our activities, philosophy, and approach, including the scholarship fund set up for course participants and interns.
