On the occasion of World Food Day, 16 October 2024, the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding establishing ICCROM as the first partner of the FAO's Global Food and Agriculture Museum and Network.

On 19 September, on the margins of the G7 Culture Ministerial in Naples, Italy, the Director-General of the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM) Aruna Francesca Maria Gujral and Acting Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs Lee Satterfield signed a grant agreement for $1 million grant through the U.S. State Department’s Ukraine Cultural Heritage Response Initiative.

We are pleased to welcome Uzbekistan as the 138th Member State of ICCROM. This important occasion strengthens our commitment to heritage conservation and expands our global heritage community dedicated to preserving and protecting the vast and rich tangible and intangible heritage worldwide and now in Uzbekistan as well.

Europe's cultural heritage is a testament to centuries of human creativity, resilience, and ingenuity. It includes rich and diverse traditions, monuments, collections and communities that hold stories of the past and provide knowledge and understanding of the continent’s history.

To address this critical situation, ICCROM’s flagship programme, First Aid and Resilience for Cultural Heritage in Times of Crisis (FAR), supported by the European Commission Directorate-General of Education, Youth, Sport and Culture (EAC), and in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine (MCIP), the Agency for Cultural Resilience (ACURE), the Maidan Museum, and the Heritage Emergency Response Initiative (HERI), has launched a capacity development project: “Enhancing Capacities in Ukraine for Cultural Heritage First Aid and Recovery Planning.”

The international conference "Fostering Italy-Africa relations: enhancing business and cultural exchange," organized by the Fondazione Scuola dei beni e delle attività culturali and ICCROM, is dedicated to cultural relations between Italy and African countries and will be held on 15 April at the Auditorium of the Central National Library of Rome.

The deadline to submit a project to be considered for the ICCROM Sharjah Award for Good Practices in Cultural Heritage Conservation and Management in the Arab Region has been extended to 1 June 2024.

This new publication by ICOMOS and ICCROM– Guidance on Post-Disaster and Post-Conflict Recovery and Reconstruction for Heritage Places of Cultural Significance and World Heritage Cultural Properties – is intended for experts working in heritage conservation and provides a framework through which the recovery of heritage places can be supported and harnessed in coming to terms with and overcoming the trauma associated with destruction and loss.

This resource has been published as part of a collaboration between the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) and the Regional Office for Cultural Heritage Preservation in the Arab Region (ICCROM-Sharjah). The collaboration is supported by His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, ruler of Sharjah and member of the Federal Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates. This collaboration aligns with ICCROM-Sharjah’s mission to assist Member States in the Arab region to conserve cultural heritage.

The 33rd session of the ICCROM General Assembly, the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property, has concluded in Rome. National delegations from ICCROM’s 137 Member States - as well as observers from non-Member States, intergovernmental organizations and other partnering institutions - attended the two-day event hosted at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to assess the progress made by the organization, set priorities and address emerging issues in the field.
