This is the seventh volume in the series published by the International Committee for Conservation Mosaics.
The proceedings discuss theoretical and practical aspects of in situ conservation of wall, pavement, archaeological and historic architectural mosaics found in Greece, Cyprus, Israel, Spain, Prague, England, Switzerland, Italy, Turkey, and Jordan among others.
The subjects addressed are:
- Theoretical considerations of in situ conservation and its development over time;
- The inclusion of in situ conservation of mosaics within planning and during archaeological excavations;
- The importance of documentation as well as new methods, case studies of practical treatments and results of improper restoration procedures;
- The issue of shelters, coverings and protection versus reburial and their consequences (including case studies);
- And, planning for the in situ presentation of mosaics to the public.
