In line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals – in particular SDG12 concerning responsible consumption and production – a zero waste approach to organizing CollAsia courses has been adopted since 2019.

In 2021-2022, CollAsia supported small community-based projects led by former participants, with a focus on collections, communities, and conservation. These projects will further enhance the impact of CollAsia by allowing selected participants to engage with local communities and work together with them to make positive change through collections-based work, using the knowledge and skills acquired through previous courses.
