On 3 May 2023, we had the honour of receiving the Director of Fondazione Scuola dei beni e delle attività culturali, Alessandra Vittorini, to sign a Memorandum of Understanding for a training project within the framework of the Youth.Heritage.Africa programme.
She was accompanied by Daniela Talamo, head of the International Unit, and Alessandra Pozza, Cultural Policy Expert. Present on behalf of ICCROM were Valerie Magar, Unit Programmes Manager; Espéra Donouvossi, Programme Officer, Youth.Heritage.Africa.; and Alice Iemali, Programmes Assistant
We will be partnering in the project "Undertaking Business in Culture," aiming at promoting young entrepreneurship in the cultural sector through strategies and methods needed to manage and promote cultural enterprises and apply them to the respective local context to stimulate the empowerment of the local cultural entrepreneurs.
The programme includes online and in-person modules, such as seminars, study tours and internships, that provide tools to help participants develop business plans and enhance their entrepreneurial skills. It also aims to create a network for partnerships and twinning projects between Italian institutions and professionals involved in the project.
"This is another important step for us in international activities, and this Africa challenge is a new front that has been on the agenda for years. Thank you to ICCROM for making it possible."
- Alessandra Vittorini, Director of Fondazione Scuola dei beni e delle attività culturali
ICCROM is pleased to have welcomed the Fondazione Scuola dei beni e delle attività culturali; we look forward to working closely to advance new activities to promote cultural heritage in Africa and beyond.
