Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, ICCROM’s Regional Office for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage in the Arab Region (ICCROM-Sharjah) invites applications for the 2024 ICCROM-Sharjah Award for good practices in cultural heritage conservation and management in the Arab Region. This biennial award seeks to honour and reward outstanding work that contributes to the protection and vitality of tangible cultural heritage in the Arab world.
The Award reflects ICCROM-Sharjah’s commitment to
- help safeguard movable and immovable cultural heritage of the Arab region;
- promote good practices in the conservation and management of cultural heritage;
- facilitate international exchange of knowledge and experience in cultural heritage conservation and management; and
- enhance public awareness and appreciation of cultural heritage.
The Award sponsors the sharing of knowledge and experience for the mutual benefit of the wider community. It recognizes the individuals, teams and organizations responsible for creating successful cultural heritage conservation projects and acknowledges the complex challenges they face.
A Grand Award will be presented for Good Practices in Cultural Heritage Conservation and Management in the Arab Region. Additionally, two Honorary Awards for Community Engagement and Conservation and Innovation will be granted to recognize exceptional exemplary projects.
The deadline for receiving entries is 31 March 2024. The ceremony to announce the winners will be held in November 2024.
