We were thrilled to welcome students of the Master in Advanced Public and Cultural Diplomacy programme at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore to ICCROM headquarters today, 8 March 2024.
The Master's programme trains qualified professionals to operate in the field of international relations by leveraging culture, creative industries and effective communication strategies. The 17 international students have diverse academic and professional backgrounds from Brazil, Ecuador, Egypt, Gambia, Iraq, Italy, Peru, Russia and Romania. The students were led by Professor Rosanna Binacchi, former head of the UNESCO Office at the Ministry of Culture (MiC).
The Director-General of ICCROM, Ms Aruna Francesca Maria Gujral, gave her welcoming remarks, emphasizing the importance of cultural diplomacy. The floor was then given to Maria Teresa Iaquinta, the Secretary General of ICOMOS Italy, who spoke about the history of ICOMOS, and the broader historical context from which these two organizations were born.
Jennifer Copithorne, Partnership and Communication Unit Manager, provided a snapshot of “ICCROM Today”, and Alison Heritage, Project Manager of Strategic Planning and Research, spoke on how we work and our strategic directions for the future of ICCROM’s heritage conservation efforts.
Our Human Resources Officer Zeno Filippi presented opportunities for young conservation professionals to make their start in the heritage sector through our internship programme. We at ICCROM recognize the importance of shaping the next generation of conservation professionals, which is why we invite all students and young professionals to apply for our internship programme.
Stay tuned — applications for 2025 internships open soon!
Thank you to our guests for an engaging discussion, and we hope to welcome you back to ICCROM in the future.
