ICCROM is participating in a UNESCO joint expert mission from 2 to 12 December 2013 to Manila and the central Visayas to assist the Philippines in assessing the situation and damage caused by the recent natural disasters.
Eighteen participants from 17 countries have gathered at ICCROM to attend the third international course on Course on First Aid to Cultural Heritage in Times of Conflict. The course aims at building capacity for cultural heritage protection in conflict afflicted areas of the world.
On Friday 28 October, the International Course on First Aid to Cultural Heritage in Times of Conflict came to a close. Participants received their certificate at an inspiring farewell celebration in the presence of all ICCROM staff.
A pilot ICCROM course on First Aid to Cultural Heritage in Haiti, held at the Cultural Recovery Centre in Port-au-Prince, was successfully concluded on Friday 10 September 2010.

In the wake of the earthquake in Haiti on 12 January there has been a huge response by cultural heritage organizations worldwide. At present, the most important issue is to join efforts to coordinate initiatives to ensure an effective result. This must be done jointly by those dealing with both movable and immovable heritage.
