The ICCROM-IUCN World Heritage Leadership (WHL) programme and the Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage (ARC-WH) delivered a joint session to develop training teams to enhance Arab regional capacities and create a regional roster of resource people that will work with ARC-WH and WHL in delivering capacity building and assistance.
The ABC Risk Management System for Cultural Heritage (or ABC System) is a tool to assist professionals and institutions interested in implementing the ABC method of risk management. We partnered with the Canadian Conservation Institute (CCI) and the Casa de Oswaldo Cruz (Fiocruz) to create this risk-based, decision-support tool for cultural heritage managers. The MOSAIKON course in Sidon assembled mosaic conservation trainees to tackle the long-term preservation of mosaics in storage.
On 17 and 18 October 2022, we reunited with PREVENT course alums to catch up on the successes and challenges of managing fire risk at heritage sites across the globe. The two-day international symposium - the first of its kind for the PREVENT initiative - was held in Trogir, Croatia, and online.
In October, the Ministry of Culture (MoC) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia concluded a training course on the Creative Cities Network (UCCN) – a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) programme and one in a series of training courses within the Experts Program, which is being implemented by MoC and ICCROM.
The 97th session of ICCROM Council took place on 26 and 27 October 2022. We were pleased to welcome several Council Members in person at ICCROM Headquarters for the first time in three years. The 97th session of Council was held in a hybrid format, so we were also able to include Council Members who could not be in Rome.
