On 14 February, ICCROM’s Director-General had the honour of welcoming H.E. Mr. Satya Rodrigo, Ambassador of Sri Lanka, to discuss ongoing and future collaborations in cultural heritage conservation.
Sri Lanka, one of ICCROM’s founding Member States, has been a valued partner since joining in 1958, fostering a strong and enduring collaboration. Over the years, this collaboration has contributed to significant heritage conservation efforts, including the restoration of the iconic rock paintings of Sigiriya, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and hosting the People, Nature, Culture (PNC) course in the country.
During the meeting, discussions focused on Sri Lanka’s request for specialized training and technical advice on key conservation challenges.
We extend our gratitude to the Ambassador for visiting us, and we look forward to strengthening our collaboration with Sri Lanka.
