The following position is available to strengthen our team of the Research Lab Sustainable Cultural Heritage at the Faculty of Education, Arts and Architecture:

 

Project Research Associate (m/f/d)

Your tasks

  • Conduct research in the field of historical textiles and bookbinding techniques, focusing on conservation methods
  • Develop and refine research charters, transitioning these into an electronic format
  • Manage and safeguard research data, contributing directly to ongoing conservation projects
  • Writing scientific texts and presenting the results
  • Gain specialized expertise through research work, which will significantly enhance future career prospects
  • Participate in project coordination and management tasks as required
  • Completed university master’s degree in the fields of conservation studies, history or cultural heritage, materials science, other related studies or equivalent qualification
  • Knowledge in textiles and bookbinding, with a focus on traditional/old techniques
  • Experience in conservation practices
  • Knowledge of database management
  • English language proficiency (min. B2 level)
  • Ability to work independently but also as part of a team
  • Flexibility and good communication skills
  • Ongoing doctoral or PhD studies in the relevant field 
  • Additional language skills in German, Russian, Armenian, and/or French
  • Part-time position (30 hours/week) initially limited until 14 October 2027, with a minimum salary of EUR 3,578.80 gross per month on a full-time basis (classification as a scientific project staff member according to § 49 VwGr. B1, Kollektivvertrag für Universitäten (collective agreement for universities)collective agreement of universities)

Your profile

We require evidence of the following qualifications for the application:

  • Completed university master’s degree in the fields of conservation studies, history or cultural heritage, materials science, other related studies or equivalent qualification
  • Knowledge in textiles and bookbinding, with a focus on traditional/old techniques
  • Experience in conservation practices
  • Knowledge of database management
  • English language proficiency (min. B2 level)
  • Ability to work independently but also as part of a team
  • Flexibility and good communication skills

In addition, the following criteria are desirable:

  • Ongoing doctoral or PhD studies in the relevant field 
  • Additional language skills in German, Russian, Armenian, and/or French

Additional Information:

The candidate will carry out his_her PhD research in cooperation with another university, as the degree cannot be completed at the UWK.

The PhD student will work under the supervision of habil. Mag.a Dr.in Patricia Engel and will engage in both online and practical research activities.
