ICCROM wishes to congratulate Dr Mechtild Rössler on her appointment as the new Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre.
Dr Rössler, an expert in both cultural and natural heritage, has a degree in Cultural Geography from Freiburg University (Germany) and was awarded a Ph.D. from the Faculty for Earth Sciences, University of Hamburg (Germany) in 1988. She has been working at the World Heritage Centre since its creation in 1992. ICCROM has enjoyed a close collaboration with her for many years through its role as an Advisory Body to the UNESCO World Heritage Convention, and has been privileged to have her lecture on past courses, such as Conservation of Built Heritage and Integrated Territorial and Urban Conservation (ITUC).
As an Advisory Body to the World Heritage Convention and close partner on World Heritage activities, ICCROM looks forward to continuing our fruitful relationship with the Centre under the directorship of Dr Rössler.
