First Aid and Resilience for Cultural Heritage in Times of Crisis (FAR) courses—whether international, regional, or national—are designed to strengthen disaster risk management capacities at all levels, particularly in high-risk regions. These multifaceted initiatives integrate research, training, and field applications, ranging from testing community-centered disaster risk management strategies to delivering specialized training.

FAR courses aim to build a strong global network of “cultural first aiders” and change agents. These professionals help integrate cultural heritage considerations into disaster risk reduction, emergency management, environmental change adaptation, humanitarian aid, and conflict transformation, ensuring heritage protection is a key component of resilience efforts.
