General description

The Partnerships and Communications Unit ensures that ICCROM delivers a compelling, coherent, and consistent message globally. Engaging Member States, partners, professional communities, and stakeholders, the Unit fosters essential public, political, and financial support for ICCROM’s mission. Through close collaboration with other units, it positions ICCROM as a trusted leader in capacity building and heritage conservation. Effective, targeted outreach—both online and offline—is fundamental to deepening stakeholder engagement and advancing ICCROM’s impact.

ICCROM is looking for a creative and energetic consultant to support Unit staff in creating compelling content and messaging for communications and external relations. In working with us, you will gain valuable hands-on experience in a dynamic international setting while making a meaningful contribution to the ICCROM Team.

Key Deliverables and Tasks

The Communications Consultant will work at ICCROM’s Partnership and Communication Unit and report to the Unit Manager. The post is based at ICCROM Headquarters, Rome (Italy). Within delegated authority, the Communications Consultant will be responsible for the following duties:

  1. Liaise with the Partnership and Communication team and staff across ICCROM for the creation and editing of content for external relations: website, social media, speeches, press releases, promotional material and corporate reports.

  2. Assist in the implementation of strategies and plans to enhance ICCROM’s visibility across its target audiences. 

  3. Assist in the preparation and implementation of external-relations events, including those related to governing bodies.

  4. Write, edit and proofread English texts as needed and assist in creating multimedia material ensuring brand consistency in both visuals and messaging.

  5. Assist in the coordination of publications produced by ICCROM and its partners.

  6. Assist with the maintenance of digital platforms to enhance communications and the user experience (Newsletter, Member States portal, main website and any future website development, etc.)

  7. Perform other tasks as requested by the supervisor.

Required qualifications

Education

  • Advanced university degree in communication and marketing, journalism, international relations, or related discipline is required.

  • Specializations or certificates in digital media, PR, marketing, or communications for the culture or public sector are a plus.

Work experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the communication field with similar tasks, of which preferably one (1) year acquired at the international level.

Skills and knowledge

  • Expertise in crafting a diversity of social media content for international audiences on digital and traditional platforms.

  • Experience in drafting and editing press releases, blog articles, reports, speeches and promotional material.

  • Experience with Content Management Systems, SEO and PR databases.

  • Experience with graphic design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and video editing applications (e.g., iMovie, Adobe Premiere Pro) to create engaging visual content.

  • Understanding of national and international political and cultural heritage trends.

Competencies

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting complex information clearly.

  • Ability to work sensitively in a multicultural environment with appropriate understanding of differences in culture, gender and physical ability; with a commitment to ICCROM values and standards.

Languages

  • English and French are the working languages of ICCROM. This position requires advanced fluency in English (both oral and written). The knowledge of French or any other language is an added advantage.
