In a significant step towards bolstering cooperation, ICCROM and the Istituto Centrale per il Restauro (ICR) have recently embarked on a series of visits to their respective headquarters.
Led by Director-General Aruna Francesca Maria Gujral on ICCROM’s side and ICR ad interim Director Giorgio Sobrà, the meetings served as a cornerstone for a revamped collaboration with the aim at exploring new avenues for mutual support, increased dialogue and exchange.
In the most recent visit to ICCROM, held on 23 February, Sobrà was accompanied by a team of experts from ICR: Francesca Capanna, the Vice Director; Eleonora Gioventù, Conservator-Restorer; and Anna Milaneschi, Library Manager.
The exchange between ICCROM and ICR continues a longstanding tradition of collaboration and partnership founded in deep-rooted historical ties. During the visits, both parties exchanged insights and experiences on topics central to their respective missions. From innovative conservation techniques to capacity-building initiatives, from the preservation of endangered heritage sites to the integration of technology in restoration processes, the discussions were rich in potential synergies.
We look forward to combining our expertise and networks with ICR to amplify the impact and address pressing issues facing cultural heritage conservation worldwide.
