Sustainability aspiration
The Uganda National Museum aims to promote heritage awareness and skills development for the youth both in and out of school for employment, decent jobs and entrepreneurship, as well as protecting our traditional knowledge. It also aims to promote sustainable use of biodiversity, ecosystems and their services, in particular forests, wetlands, mountains and drylands, through conservation, restoration and reverse land degradation.
The Goal
The goal of this project is to implement heritage education initiatives around Uganda’s traditional drum, where the community plays an active role while strengthening efforts to protect and safeguard cultural and natural heritage.
Aims:
- To raise awareness about the intangible heritage in our communities for real value attachment as well as commitment to preserving our local heritage.
- Enable the participants to learn more about culture and natural heritage through a hands-on experience with professional artisans for fair and ethical use of our indigenous knowledge.
- To develop skills needed to conserve heritage and promote sustainable use of vegetative environments through conservation, restoration, and reverse land degradation.
